Hellen Van Meene is a photographer most of us saw on our New York trip.Needless to say her work had an impact me, specifically her portraits of children. what particularly fascinates me about these photographs are the intense natural lighting cast on to her subjects. The children in her photographs have expressionless, or somber faces; their surrounding are often drab, and dreary. with her use of bold lighting shining on each child could suggest their innocence in the environment. overall, I find her work to be haunting and surreal and beautiful.
