Karekin Goekjian

It is as if these photographs were taken during the day, however, Karekin Goekjian uses the moon light, a combination of flash lights and a single flash portable unit to create these beautifully intriguing images. His camera exposure time is between one hour and one and a half hours. Another interesting fact about his process, he uses aged kodachrome 64 film. He believes aging the film 4 - 5 years allows the unwanted green color cast, which is the result of using the new film, to do a color shift towards Magenta. His photographs have been used on numerous book covers for the likes of William Faulkner, Joyce Carol Oates and Anne Rice.
Six months ago he started using a Nikon D-70 Digital camera for his night work. This has cut his exposure time to between 5 and 10 minutes with very good results both in color and sharpness. Hopefully, he is still creating with the kodachrome 64 film.
